Libya crude oil exports: what the public data shows

Libyan domestic refining capacity absorbs only a modest part of national output, so the large majority of produced crude is exported. That makes monthly production the most defensible public proxy for export volumes — provided it is labelled as a proxy and not presented as a measured loading figure.

JODI-Oil collects monthly crude production, exports, refinery intake and closing stocks from participating administrations. Libya is absent from these crude flows, so the table below shows the most recent reported export figures for regional and OPEC peers we ingest. It gives a scale reference for interpreting Libyan volumes without inventing a Libyan number.

Export capacity is concentrated in a small number of coastal terminals. Because each handles a large share of national loadings, a single outage — technical, weather-driven or political — moves the national export figure immediately.

We track marine and wind conditions for these locations from Open-Meteo, which is how our workspace flags loading windows that are likely to slip. Cargo-level vessel and destination data comes from commercial providers and is not redistributed here.
